Hangzhou, one of the "Seven ancient capitals of China", is famous for its fabulous historic interests. As a part of the great leap forward of China, Hangzhou has experienced rapid urbanism development since the 1980s. Morden roads, houses, and buildings started to dominate the city, which changed people's lifestyles. And the old buildings become vanished gradually...

Xiaoying lane plot, located in the downtown of Hangzhou, is isolated by a modern residential community. The hundred-year-old buildings and the ancient fabric is well-conserved. Walking in the lane， it will remind you of the old stories about Hangzhou that happened in the past. The houses are full of residents and the living condition is really low. To become the lounge of the city, we need to make some changes. The residential tower which stands over the open area will be the landmark in this plot. The natives will enjoy a pleasant view.

作为七大古都之一的杭州以著名的历史遗迹和风景名胜而闻名。在中国快速的改革开放进程中，杭州自上世纪80年代也经历了快速的城市化发展。现代的道路、住宅和公共建筑物开始占据整个城市，改变了人们的生活方式。与此同时，老房子逐渐开始消失在历史长河中，小营巷历史街区的具有百年历史的老房子肌理被完整的保存了下来，但是周围已经被现代的住宅社区所隔离开来。徜徉在巷道里，能让人回忆起发生在杭州过去的故事。老房子里挤满了住户，生活条件十分艰苦。我们需要做出改变而使它成为具有特色的杭州客厅。设计的居住塔楼在原开放广场内，将会成为整个区域的标志物。当地居民原先的住所将被作为商业以及文化空间对外开放。
